    • Disasters don’t wait—and children can’t afford to be an afterthought. This on-demand training is designed for pediatric healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, EMTs, and emergency planners, who want to strengthen their hospital’s disaster readiness. Through real-world lessons from the Disaster Networking Collaborative, this series explores strategies for a children's hospital to improve its pediatric disaster infrastucture and preparedness. Recorded sessions from this program are now available on demand, with continuing education (CE) credit available for physicians and nurses. Whether you’re on the frontlines or in a leadership role, you’ll gain practical tools to help protect the most vulnerable when it matters most.

      • Continuing Education (CE) credit is available for eligible clinicians. 

      • Participation certificates are also available for learners who are not seeking CE credit.

      The first session in this module introduces the Pediatric Pandemic Network and the Disaster Networking Collaborative and reviews how children's hospitals can engage in a quality improvement project to enhance disaster preparedness through hospital infrastructure.

      Having relationships with external emergency management groups and individuals is key to the success of disaster response. Session 4 discusses strategies to increase that engagement and those relationships as a preparedness model.

      In this session, three speakers discuss their path to becoming leaders in the disaster management field, covering various roles and organizations. Shared practices and lessons learned can help the audience with balancing work and life, gaining a seat at the table, and having disaster preparedness conversations that ask "what about the kids?".

      As a guide for hospitals to use in pediatric disaster management planning, the EIIC created the Checklist of Essential Pediatric Considerations for Every Hospital's Disaster Policies. In this session learners will hear how the checklist can be used to build a hospital disaster plan, as well as what to do with the plan to ensure it will work during a disaster. The checklist include 11 domains or topics that should be addressed in disaster plans specific to children.
