          Step into an interactive global child health scenario focused on the management of diarrhea and dehydration in children during disaster and resource-limited settings. This activity challenges learners to assess pediatric patients, recognize dehydration severity, and make timely treatment decisions when access to clean water, supplies, diagnostics, or referral care may be limited.

          Through realistic decision points, learners take an active role in evaluating children with diarrheal illness, identifying danger signs, prioritizing rehydration strategies, and adapting care to the resources available. The scenarios emphasize the unique vulnerabilities of children, including their increased risk for rapid fluid loss, electrolyte imbalance, malnutrition, and clinical deterioration following disasters or in humanitarian emergencies.

          In this problem-based learning exercise, available in both English and Spanish, you will learn:

          • Rapid assessment of pediatric diarrhea and dehydration
          • Recognition of dehydration severity and clinical danger signs
          • Selection of appropriate oral and intravenous rehydration strategies
          • Prioritization of care when supplies, staffing, or referral options are limited
          • Communication with caregivers and interprofessional team members
          • Application of global child health principles to diarrhea and dehydration management in disaster and resource-limited settings
