Continuous Evaluation and Improvement

Regularly evaluate the Child Reunification Focus Group’s membership, capabilities, and areas of responsibility to identify missing components, resources, or subject matter expertise.

After drills, exercises, activations, and real-world incidents, review the reunification plan to confirm that it includes all essential child-focused considerations and capabilities.

Evaluation Activities

  • Review focus group membership and identify missing subject matter experts.
  • Assess whether the plan addresses children’s developmental, medical, behavioral, communication, accessibility, and safety needs.
  • Gather feedback from team members, children and families, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Document strengths, gaps, corrective actions, responsible parties, and completion timelines.
  • Update strategies, protocols, and training based on lessons learned and emerging promising practices.
Improvements identified through child reunification planning should also be incorporated into broader reunification procedures whenever they can strengthen the response for all affected individuals and families.
