In collaboration with the Federal EMSC Program, national leaders in pediatric emergency care will share what’s new in the upcoming 2026 joint policy statement, “Pediatric Readiness in the Emergency Department,” and what those updates mean for emergency departments across the country. These guidelines will directly inform the next National Pediatric Readiness Project (NPRP) Nationwide Assessment, launching in March 2026.
Pediatric Readiness is one of the most powerful, evidence-based ways emergency departments can improve outcomes for children, often through low-cost, high-impact changes that strengthen systems, roles, workflows, and team preparedness. Yet pediatric readiness remains inconsistent across ED settings, and many teams are unsure what the updated standards require or how to translate them into day-to-day practice.
This session is designed to help ED clinicians and leaders understand the updated guidelines, assess readiness gaps, and take practical steps now to prepare for the 2026 NPRP Assessment and strengthen pediatric emergency care in their department.

What You Will Learn
- Analyze updated national Pediatric Readiness guidelines and interpret their implications for emergency department clinical practice, operational workflows, and leadership decision-making in preparation for the 2026 NPRP Nationwide Assessment.
- Assess emergency department pediatric readiness across key guideline domains and apply evidence-based, low-cost strategies to address identified gaps and strengthen preparedness for the care of children in emergency settings.
Continuing Education
Participants can earn up to 1.0 hours of continuing education (CE) credit. CE credit is available for physicians and nurses.
